Searching for Peace of Mind

Peace of Mind: the absence of mental stress or anxiety

“Every morning when I wake up, I dedicate myself to helping others to find peace of mind. Then, when I meet people, I think of them as long term friends; I don’t regard others as strangers.” Dalai Lama

I found the Dalai Lama’s quote earlier this week on my FaceBook stream and it just jumped out at me.  Especially the phrase ‘searching for peace of mind’.  That’s what Bella Vida by Letty brings to me, a reflective and positive point of view to uplift and inspire.  This is my purpose in life, to seek the beauty of the world and share it with others.  I feel so great when I’m writing these posts.  They are rewarding, satisfying and I don’t envision myself ever stopping.

How about you?  How do you acquire Peace of Mind?

“Breathing in, I calm body and mind. Breathing out, I smile. Dwelling in the present moment I know this is the only moment.” Thich Nhat Hanh (Being Peace)

“All the things that truly matter, beauty, love, creativity, joy and inner peace arise from beyond the mind.” Eckhart Tolle

“There are many aspects to success; material wealth is only one component. …But success also includes good health, energy and enthusiasm for life, fulfilling relationships, creative freedom, emotional and psychological stability, a sense of well-being, and peace of mind.” Deepak Chopra

South Florida Sunsets

“Love is the dawn of marriage, and marriage is the sunset of love.” French Proverb

“A moment, and its glory was no more. The sun went down beneath the long dark lines of hill and cloud which piled up in the west an airy city, wall heaped on wall, and battlement on battlement; the light was all withdrawn; the shining church turned cold and dark; the stream forgot to smile; the birds were silent; and the gloom of winter dwelt on everything.” Charles Dickens
“Softly the evening came. The sun from the western horizon
Like a magician extended his golden wand o’er the landscape;
Twinkling vapors arose; and sky and water and forest
Seemed all on fire at the touch, and melted and mingled together.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Do you pay attention to your interior as much as you exterior?

“There is one spectacle grander than the sea, that is the sky; there is one spectacle grander than the sky, that is the interior of the soul.” Victor Hugo

Some philosophies state that our interior life creates our exterior life. In literary criticism, stream of consciousness is a narrative mode portraying an individual’s point of view by giving the written equivalent of the character’s thought processes in connection to his or her actions. So if we affect each other with our actions that would mean that we are constantly creating and recreating the now.

Our thoughts affect us physically as well as emotionally. If we stopped to find out what is in our stream we could essentially control the exterior by manipulating our thoughts. By thinking a certain way we would be living a certain way. I’m going to let you ponder before my brains start oozing out my ears.

When was the last time you explored your thoughts?
